ULV17 fogger: what chemicals can and cannot be used

Applies to:

ULV17 Cold Fogger and similar ULV (Ultra Low Volume) fogger units from The Fountainhead Group.

What causes this:

The ULV17 fogger is designed for water-based and water-soluble disinfectants, sanitizers, insecticides, and deodorizers. Using the wrong chemical type can damage the pump and seals, void the warranty, and create a safety hazard.

How to fix it:

1. Use only water-based or water-soluble products that the chemical maker labels as compatible with cold ULV foggers.
2. Do NOT use oil-based products; they can damage the pump seals and motor and create a fire hazard near electrical components.
3. Do NOT use flammable solvents, gasoline, alcohol-based products above the rating for cold foggers, or aerosol propellants.
4. Always check the chemical's Safety Data Sheet to confirm fogger compatibility before use.
5. Wear appropriate PPE (goggles, gloves, mask, protective clothing) as the chemical maker recommends.
6. Clean the fogger with clean water after every use; residue from one chemical can react with the next.
