Applies to:
Battery-powered sprayers using Pump Zero technology (Smith S103 series, DEWALT, CRAFTSMAN, Scotts, LESCO, and other lithium-ion models).
What causes this:
The pump assembly is the integrated motor, pump head, and battery housing on most modern FGI battery sprayers. When the motor fails, leaks internally, or no longer holds a charge, the assembly may need to be replaced. Confirm the issue is the pump itself before ordering.
How to fix it:
- First rule out simpler causes. Verify it is not a battery, charger, residue, or priming issue before ordering a pump.
- Find your model number on the label on the tank or pump.
- Check whether the sprayer is still under warranty (typically 1 to 3 years from purchase). If covered, file a warranty claim; the replacement pump may be free.
- If out of warranty, call 1-800-311-9903 with your model number and we will confirm the correct pump assembly and pricing.
- Have ready: model number, approximate purchase date, a short description of the failure, and your shipping address.
- For the Smith S103 series (S103, S103E, S103EX), ask specifically about the Pump Zero replacement head, the most commonly replaced part on these models.
- Pump assemblies typically ship within 3 to 5 business days, with installation instructions included.
